MEMORIES ... journal

Hello all,
Today I’m sharing the journal I created with the‘Sherlock Book Kit’ designed by Watson
(Kerry-Jean) that is !!!!

this is available in printed or digital version

Firstly some directions to form the basis for my journal:
I gathered various pieces of information on the net, have combined a mixture of plans & ideas
so to all the journal makers who have gone before me
I cut the covers (21.5cm x 14cm) & back spine (21.5 x 5.5cm) using heavy cardboard,
which I then covered in my chosen papers, wrapping the outer cover over the edges
& then gluing down the inside covers, leaving space between covers & back spine.
Using empty cardboard centre roll from hand towel paper for the curved spine
I sliced through the centre longways, then glued evenly spaced pieces of string & covered,
to form ridges, when all dry sand & ink & paint inside if desired & set aside till later.
For each my pages cut 2x 21cm x 12cm, 12 pieces in total
fold up 2cm, glue top & bottom, pages now measure  19x 12 cm
cutting three strips of cardstock 1x18 x 9.5cm, 1x 18 x 7.5cm, 1 x 18 x 5.5cm
Score & fold each strip 2cm each long side, centre & glue them
wider to narrower with folds all facing up forming the hinges for the pages ...
Glue to spine... Now to build a journal ....
I built each double page separately then adhered onto a hinge leaving a pocket on outside
all pages have been distressed, inked & stamped
tabbed insert in pocket
 PAGES 1 & 2
unclip lock & lift envelope for journalling &/or photo
Tag pulls out of envelope pocket
2 tags for more journaling or small photos, pocket to hold extra memorabilia
pocket for post card tag, extra page attached to inside double pages to open for storytelling
brown paper bag a pocket for memorabilia
has a flap attached which when flipped open reveals another journalling page & a pocket with tags

 PAGES 7 & 8
another small pocket with tag & journalling tab ..
Lift with the tag for more hidden stories/photos
  PAGE 10
 pocket insert with tag etc..
to complete cover
Adhere curved spine cover onto front & back cover , cover join with raffia ribbon,
Glue handle onto edge of front cover (brads are bent & glued)
attach picture hanger onto back cover,
attach brass corners to covers

Book tied with plaited sting
ta daaaa ... all done
